What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong.
Pickleball is designed for all ages and can be played with as few as two people. Pickleball has grown in popularity over the years because it's easy to learn rules and quick turnaround for proficiency. But don't think this is just your grandma's sport. Pickleball can be fast-paced and competitive.
Pickleball (sometimes called Pickle Ball) was first played in 1965 and has developed into one of the more popular recreational sports. The game can be played with singles or doubles - often intergender teams or leagues. The rules are easy to learn and can be found on the official Pickleball website.
More at the Highlands
Even though we know pickleball could be for everyone, we also understand that not everyone wants to play while visiting. Highlands Sports Complex has activities for everyone in the family. While the parents battle the teenagers in a pickleball game, the grandparents can take the children to the play climb area, batting cages, or indoor turf. When everyone finishes up, dine at our cafe.
You can always learn more about the facilities and things to do at Highlands Sports Complex by visiting Family Fun.
Pickleball Leagues and Programs
As popularity grows in the Ohio Valley, we anticipate seeing more and more leagues for pickleball. We have the facility to help house tournaments, weekly games, and/or friendly exhibitions.
Highlands Sports Complex offers a wide variety of sports-related training and fitness. Come to play a game of pickleball and stay to workout in our fitness center or train in our fieldhouse.
