Lacrosse in Wheeling, West Virginia
Lacrosse has been growing in popularity over the last decade. Slowly our Ohio Valley high schools are developing great programs and introducing our youth to this popular worldwide sport. What began as stickball, a Native American contest played by tribal warriors, Lacrosse is now an interscholastic, professional and international sport.
Lacrosse is a team sport, where they use a lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into a goal. There are several variations of the game, but most commonly played on fields (indoor turf or outdoor grass).
Local Wheeling schools like The Linsly School and Wheeling Park offer lacrosse programs, but Wheeling residents are not limited to these high school programs. Highlands Sports Complex offer camps, classes, and leagues to help build the best lacrosse players.
Lacrosse Facilities at Highlands Sports Complex
Lacrosse is not something to sleep on. The popularity of lacrosse is only growing here in the Ohio Valley. Youth from Martins Ferry to Steubenville are finding lacrosse on national television and asking how they can participate locally.
Highlands Sports Complex wants to give your child and their league a perfect place to play – rain or shine. Our outdoor field is a full-size regulation turf lacrosse field with the ability to be used for smaller breakdown drills. During the winter months, lacrosse can still be played on our indoor turf. Your team can break into small groups and practice on small-sided fields. We’re equipped to host all ages and skill levels and are the perfect fit for your tournament, game, and team practice.
Finding the perfect field might have been a challenge for Wheeling Athletic Directors or Coaches in the past – but not now. Highlands Sports Complex wants to be involved in your next face-off.
